TRENDY

Before I go to bed I thought I might try doing a bit of a trendy 'what I wore tonight' post like my extremely fashionable mate Aikko does over on his blog Cash Rules Everything Around Me. Sure, this comes across as a lame knock off in comparison, but it's worth a shot.

Shipwreck
Integrity belt (near included hand)
Edwin's
cool Vans

(please ignore the messy room around me)

fuck phone cameras suck. 5 megapixels and a brand name lens and I still get shots like that. Balls.

Ps. here's a shot of the start of Propagandhi's set tonight for anyone who cares:

Finally, I'm heading to bed.

Thankyou's

Maybe this post will make me sound like a wanker but hey, that's not how I intended it.

On Thursday night I went to the Values Here album release show at Snitch (which by the way was amazing) and picked up a copy of their album 'Greet the Sun'. I was flicking through the booklet tonight before I went to Propagandhi and I noticed my name in the thankyou's list of the album. It's the second album thankyou's list I have been in and I guess for me it feels like a big deal not in a 'oh I'm so cool bands put me in these now' or a 'I interviewed their band so I deserve to be in there' but in a more reflective way. I can remember when I first got into music, I would sit down and read every title like detail of the records I bought. The lyrics, words in the background (I can remember when I sat down and read the whole story written behind the lyrics of the last boysetsfire album), who recorded it and where and lastly, the thankyou's list. I'd sit there and read all these names of people I didn't know, people I'd never met and probably never would meet, but people who meant a lot to the people who conspired to make that record. I guess it feels cool to be recognised as one of those people and maybe one day be a name read over and over by another kid as engrossed in music as I was.

Please go listen to Values Here, they are amazing. Their album 'Greet the Sun' is probably the best melodic hardcore album to come out of Brisbane everrrrrrrrrrrrr. The coverart is cool too haha. Check them out on myspace here. They're doing some shows interstate in the next week, please go to them if you can! You will not be disappointed.

I also found out tonight that I will get to hangout with Ryan from Values Here while I'm in New York at the end of April. Fucking cool. We're going to go to the statue of liberty together wooo.

Ps. to continue with the youtube theme, here's a video of Values Here playing 'Purpose' my favourite Values Here song. I'll also probably put the interview I did with Ryan from Gb#3 up when I finally get around to reinstalling office on this PC, we'll see how we go.

there is a light that never goes out

I guess while I'm doing youtube posts I may as well post this one as well, it's probably like my favourite youtube clip in the world.

Both of my parents were big fans of seminal Australia/New Zealand band Crowded House so I guess I spent a lot of my childhood listening to the voice of Neil Finn. Even now I think I still have a soft spot for Crowded House, it's always a decent moment at coles when a really dodgy Crowded House cover comes on the radio haha. Anywayz, this clip below features Neil Finn playing the Smiths classic 'there is light that never goes out' with Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr at a 'Neil Finn and friends' live show. I think it may be just as amazing as watching Morrissey do the same song.

Actually, I can remember going to Kings Beach in Caloundra at like 3am with Jacob on New Years Eve after our late night drive back from Brisbane. I think we interrupted a young couple about to have sex hahahah

One Summerrrrrrrrr

to celebrate the fact that I don't think I even went to the beach once this summer, here's a song about summer with many pictures of the beach.

Maybe I might convince my mates to go for a nighttime swim after dinner on the goldy on Sunday night?

In other news, happy valentines day world. Maybe you'll bless me with someone to go to the beach with next valentines day? As opposed to literally half a day of work.

hmmmmm

Sean did a post about Hatebreed over at Skullfucked a couple of days ago, I don't think a truer word has ever been spoken.

It looks like today is going to be a pretty lazy day. I want to head into uni to do a couple of things but apart from that I have nothing at all planned until I go to Snitch tonight for the Values Here album launch. I watched some youtube videos about Nibiru/2012 conspiracy crap this morning and now I'm sitting around listening to the Minor Threat 7" part of the discography CD. Could just be one of the best things ever. RED I'M SEEIN' REDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

ps. new Killers single is fucking amazing. different to Sam's Town, but still really cool.

pps. don't smoke don't drink don't fuck at least I can fucking thinkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Blkout!

Perth's Blkout just put 2 new songs up on myspace from their new 7" titled '2012' out on Suppression Records in the near future.  The shit is sooooo fucking hard. They used to sound little bit like Breakdown, now they sound a lot like Breakdown. Probably the best 2 NY style hardcore tracks I've heard out of Australia in the last couple of years. Yes, I'd probably say this is better than anything Bad Blood have done and even the new track that 50 Lions just put up. Blkout's singers voice is just crazy now. Fuck. And they've got late 80's NYHC down pat now. Mid paced, groovy and so fucking tough. A good Australian band just became a great one.

Preorders are up now. Check it out.
